Networks

Our Institute is a member of the following professional networks:

ropEd is an international network of institutions for higher education in international health. It collaborates closely with institutions in Africa, Asia and Latin America. tropEd provides postgraduate opportunities for education and training contributing to sustainable development. It focuses on improving the management of health services for disadvantaged populations.

The innovative approach is based on mobility of people, the exchange of experiences in different disciplines and the establishment of a common standard in education and training.

Participants in the Master’s Programme must enrol with one of the tropEd institutions, where they undertake a 3-month core course. Successful participants then select Advanced Modules at their home institution and/or at institutions within the tropEd network.

Core Module, Advanced Modules and Thesis offer credit points according to the ECTS. Completion of the Master’s programme requires completion of a total of 60 ECTS. Study must take place at a minimum of 2 institutions in 2 different countries, and the overall course programme must be completed within 5 years.

The Short Courses offered at the University of Heidelberg are accredited with the tropEd programme. Each short course will provide 2 to 4 ECTS credits towards the Masters in International Health as an advanced module.

More information on tropEd can be found here.

The German Association of Postgraduate Programmes with special Relevance to Developing Countries (AGEP) is an umbrella organization comprising around 50 postgraduate study programmes oriented to developing and threshold countries as well as countries with economies in transition.

These programmes are offered by the AGEP members at German universities in widespread fields of natural, engineering, technical, medical and social sciences, economics and other relevant disciplines.

The AGEP programmes charge no, or very low fees compared to universities in other countries. This makes studying in Germany an attractive option. AGEP standards guarantee that its members maintain a high scientific level and apply modern methods of teaching and research.

Some of our international programmes have a proven track record covering more than 30 years, whilst others have evolved more recently. All of them have been continuously updated and accredited according to current developments and specific requirements in developing countries.

More information on AGEP can be found here.
