The Heidelberg Research to Practice Group is focusing on systematic reviews as a tool to present research for policy recommendations, but also as a concept for gap analysis.
We are considering all sub-types of reviews in the "family" of systematic reviews, depending on the research question. This may be evidence mapping, scoping reviews, systematic reviews, meta reviews and meta-analysis, for example.
We are particularly working with our MSc and PhD candidates, who like to answer research questions with the abovementioned methodology. In particular, systematic reviews are an especially well-suited tool to grasp the whole current picture of a specific research topic when starting a PhD
But we are also working with our partners, such as the World Health Organization, to answer relevant research questions that are important for current global health issues, through systematic reviews.
This also defines our organisational structure, we have a coordination team, presented here, and we create subgroups of researchers ad hoc and in relation to the topics to be addressed, for each systematic review.
We consider ourselves as partners in the field of linking research to practice, using clear and sound scientific methododology to help this process.
